SANTIAGO DE PROMETIDO

Santiago de Prometido is Misty Pines' 12 year old, 14.3 hand, 1,000 lb. Pleasure Stallion. He's a PFHA Title of Proficiency stallion with over 1,000 cumulative PFHA show ring points. He is out of Plebeyo x 2, (Chucuano x 3), on the sire's side and a Hilachas bred mare on the dam's side. He is a strikingly handsome buckskin stallion with an exceptional flowing mane and tail, very powerful hocks and a fabulous disposition.

He has always won or placed very high in all of his classes at the regional level and has ribboned 7 times at 4 different PFHA Grand National Championships since 1998 in both Open and Amateur Owner Performance and Pleasure Colt or Stallion classes. His most recent accomplishment and without a doubt his finest performance yet, occurred at the 2005 Grand National Championships in which as an 11 year old stallion, he was crowned the National Champion in Open Pleasure Stallions, with his trainer Cary Hardiman at the reins. Even with a class of 29 stallions including many former National Champions and recently imported Colombian Stallions, Santiago won this class with a unanimous decision among all 3 judges. Two days later, he was crowned the Reserve Grand National Champion in Open Pleasure Colts and Stallions in which he received one placement for the Grand National Championship.

In 1998, Santiago and his Amateur Owner won the Reserve National Championship in 4 year old Performance Colts/Geldings. In 2000, they won a 5th National Championship in Open Pleasure Stallions, and a 6th National Championship in Amateur Owner Pleasure Stallions with only 2 weeks of refresher training. Then in 2002, they made the final cut in the Amateur Owner Pleasure Colts/Stallions Grand National Championship and were awarded Honorable Mention (or 5th) in this class.

Santiago has easily earned his rite for retirement in Open competition and may on very rare occasions return with his owner to the regional Amateur Owner show ring, but until then, he has a life of ease grazing with the mares and making babies for Misty Pines.
If you are interested in breeding your filly or mare to Santiago, you won’t be disappointed. He makes very elegant, talented, SMART, and entirely docile babies, that anyone can handle. His stud fee for 2006 is $1,200 plus $10 per day for live cover mare care. He does has a live foal guarantee even though his conception/birth rate is running 100%, and most of his babies including his youngest son at 4 years old is almost 15.0 hands.
